Drop me! Drop me!! Drop me!!!
I boarded a bus from Ikeja to Onipan and like every conductor would, the conductor kept calling out bus stops and junctions that the passengers would like to alight and the passengers kept answering and coming down when they reached their preferred destination.

A moving bus |
When we were almost at Anthony the conductor kept saying "Anthony" "Shey o wa?"
A lady answered "o wa" so the conductor alerted the driver by tapping on the bus three times. The driver stopped and the lady and some other people got down. The driver then asked "traffic light nko?", "traffic light" but no one answered so he drove away from the service lane and moved to the express which was a faster route.
The driver kept driving. All of a sudden a young man that had earpiece plugged in his ears just started shouting "Anthony! Haaaa!! o wa oh"
Everyone turned back to look at him. "Stop!drop me! drop me!! drop me!!!" he kept shouting.
The conductor asked if he didn't hear or see when other passengers dropped at Anthony. The driver asked if he didn't hear when he asked before moving to the express. Some of the passengers laughed at him. Many concluded that it was his fault since he had his earpiece plugged in his ears.
The driver said he can't stop on the express. He later drove to the service lane at Obanikoro so the young man could come down.
This experience made me realize again that in life, we are all on a journey. We keep moving from one point to another. At times, we are very confused and don't know the next step to take or the next bus stop of life to drop.
The good news is that we have the conductor and driver (Holy Spirit and God) of our lives to help us navigate well.
There have been times that we only know the name of where we are to drop but haven't been there before and so, we need the conductor to inform us when we get to where we are to drop.
But do we listen?
Do we hear when they speak?
Hope we have not plugged cares, worries of the world and other distractions in our ears that has hindered us from hearing God.
The same way the young man had earpiece plugged in (probably to the highest volume) that he didn't hear the driver nor the conductor. He was so glued that he didn't even see when others were getting down at Anthony.
Hope we are also not so blind and deaf to the word of God for our lives.
Some of us have even made the wrong people or things the driver and conductor of our lives.
Let God take charge. Let go and let God. Let Him be the driver of your life.
Some of us have even allowed God to drive our lives but we refuse to listen not to talk of obeying. We have taken our eyes off the conductor. We have not been watching Jesus as we should.
"I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken" Psalm 16:8. Don't stop looking at Him. Don't stop listening and obeying Him. Do not allow other distractions hinder your hearing.
I once read that "Every great team relies on a conductor to establish a direction". Is God your conductor? If you say He is, are you following His directions?
We need to rely on God to guide our ways and keep us on track. Rely on God to be the driver, director and conductor of your life.
Proverbs 3:6 says in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.
He can make our paths straight, all we need do is acknowledge Him. He is able to lead us and let us know the way we should go.
Let His word be a lamp to your feet and a light to your path. Know His voice and follow.
Don't be like that young man that was carried away and refused to listen until he passed his bus stop. I'm sure he would have had to trek back or pay extra 50 Naira (that he wouldn't have paid if he heard and saw) to get back to Anthony.
So don't pay extra cost. Listen, be alert, pay attention so that you would hear and see. God help us all.
Nice
