Remove Your Heels

The female gender is indeed one very peculiar gender.
We are so blessed, so full of unpredictable characteristics, complexities and all these make up our beauty.

Most times when a lady is going to church it is common to see such on flat slippers especially when trekking to church and then when they get to church, they change to their heels.

I have had different instances where the male folks keep asking that why do we love wearing slippers from home, wear heels in church, then slippers back home...
Most times, I just laugh it off and be like "it's because we are amazing, peculiar, and of course because we are ladies".

A while back, I got an entirely different reason. While going to church, me and my sisters (Fasogbon BukolaRukky Okoro and Princess Oride Tolulope Mary) wore our flat slippers while going to church. On our way, we decided to take pictures so we had to wear our heels. After taking the picture, I decided to wear the heels to church instead of changing to the slippers again. I however felt like I wasn't walking fast. I felt I was walking slow. I felt the heels was drawing me back. (Plus the ground was muddy). So, I removed the heels and wore my slippers and after putting on the slippers I did find myself walking faster.
This gave birth to my new reason why ladies wear slippers while going to church, change to heels when they get to church and then wear slippers back home. The reason is that so they can walk faster, walk comfortably and walk with ease.
But really why am I sharing this?
What exactly am I trying to point out?
All I want to say is REMOVE YOUR HEELS!
Yes, you!

Remove your heels!!!
I am not referring to the female folks now, I am not referring to people that like to wear heels or not, I am not referring to people that wear slippers from home or not. I mean everybody. The bible says in Hebrews 12 verse 1b that we should lay aside every weight that easily beset us.

This means we should throw off everything that's entangling us and every sin that is hindering us. It means we should strip ourselves of every encumbrance, every unnecessary weight that cling to us and entangle us so that we can run well.
This life is a race. Our Christian journey is a race. There is a need for us to run with perseverance this race before us. However, when we have different things hindering or entangling us, it becomes difficult. It is our duty to disentangle, it is our duty to strip them off.
I would really would want us to check and see those sins besetting us. I would really want us to examine our lives and disentangle from those weights, things, attitude, characteristics that is making our journey slow or hindering our journey.
While walking to church, I felt I was late, I felt I was walking too slow, I had to remove my heels. That's why I am telling us too to remove our heels. Let us remove the 'heels' that is slowing us down, let's remove the 'heels' that is entangling us, let's remove the 'heels' that is hindering us, let's remove the 'heels' that is besetting us. And I pray that God helps us to run this race well and finish well. I pray that God gives us grace to disentangle from such weights and sins.
Enjoy the remaining days in this week. Much love from me to you.
