Corruption

Hephzibah's Dairy

The picture above depicts the kind of expression most of us had when we saw the video of the NDDC officer that fainted during corruption probe in the parliament.
That incident has led a lot of us to say many things about Nigeria. Things like;
"Nigeria is corrupt, kai"
"I am tired of this country, somebody should come and carry me away"
"We have bad leaders, they are all thieves"
bla bla bla...

But really, aren't we all corrupt?
Excuse me sir/ma, the job you got now, how did you get it? Was the process transparent? Didn't you bribe your way through?
Oh, is it only our leaders that are corrupt?

A lot of people that are using PHCN meters have devised ways to hack the meters and people who are yet to get prepaid meters have simply removed cables from their meters; practicing short-circuiting. And these are the first set of people that will throw stones at public office holders.
When I was growing up I lived in a house where for many months, we didn't pay a single electricity bill (formerly NEPA) and we enjoyed power supply all through. And we all shout that Nigeria leaders are corrupt. Really?

The last time some of us were asked to prepare 'Indomie and dodo' for our younger ones, we ate half of the dodo before we were done(and those dodo are sweet that they can teach us covetousness ðŸ˜‚😂😂).
Ordinary dodo you are found wanting. If you can't be trusted with dodo, how are we sure we can trust you with public funds. But it is only our leaders that are corrupt. Really?

A pastor who has used his pulpit to criticize government officials once told me first hand that God does not frown at buying exam results for your children. I know a lot of practicing Christians and people with the loudest noise who carry different C.V about. Each C.V has date of birth that is different from the one on their certificate all in a bid to get a job.
Did I hear you say football age? And Nigeria leaders are corrupt o. Really?

How many registered businesses are loyal to paying taxes. Some have even refused to declare their company's assets and the number of staff they have because they want to evade government responsibilities. Read my lips (it is called unfaithfulness). Nigeria leaders are the only corrupt ones bah? Really?

You, you yes you. You have stolen a lot of articles on Facebook and you put one or two touches to it. You posted it without crediting the original source. Some are even bold to put their name as the author. Ahhhh.! That is daylight robbery.

Well, we need to investigate your final year project then. I am sure you did copy and paste. Oju ole re... Ole! And you say Nigeria leaders are the corrupt ones. Really?
Let me not talk about how we are all found wanting on queues. It is called shunting in students circles.
A whole lot of corrupt non-public office holders are jostling for government position right now just to siphon public funds far out-numbers the present government functionaries.
The corruption we see at the top is a reflection of a decayed society. How have we become a people who have so embodied corruption, yet we do not see that we are also part of the problem? It is time to repent and embrace RIGHTEOUSNESS.
Reading this write-up made me remember Matthew 7:3-6
"Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but fail to notice the beam in your own eye?
How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' while there is still a beam in your own eye?
You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye"

I think it is important that we work on ourselves first, ensure that we are in right standing before pointing fingers.
The so called Nigerian Leaders didn't just start to embezzle overnight. It started from the seemingly little things that were mentioned above. I know a number of Nigerian Youth today that if they get to top positions, they would do worse than the current leaders and they have no shame in saying it.

I pray God helps us to live right. Remember that the Bible says that whoever is faithful with little is also faithful with much, and the one who is dishonest with little is also dishonest with much. So, endeavor to be faithful. Even in the seemingly little and meaningless things, be faithful.

God help us all.
