Calling 911

Shout out to everyone that called, texted and checked up on me after I posted that I just called 911. I called 911 for the first time in my life this past week.

Backstory - I was in this 9 day camp which was designed for high schoolers looking to become medical practitioners in the nearest future. I worked as a program team member in this camp and on the 8th day, a kid went missing. He was seen in his room the previous night during the room check but had gone missing in the morning. We looked everywhere for him but to no avail.

After looking for few hours, I decided to call the police department of our location and our county but unfortunately, one contact kept ringing and the other was not going through as the police department probably did not work on weekends.

In my frustration, I decided to call 911. I told them what the issue was, gave them the needed information, the reasons he might have ran away, his description and all of that. Then, I was told they would send officers to assist us in looking for this high schooler.

In less than two minutes, 3 police vans came towards me, got all the needed Information and got to work. They pinned his phone, tracked the last spending on his card, called his parents, and others. After about 3 hours, they finally found the high-schooler.

Personally, I was impressed by the response time. I kept telling anyone that was willing to hear how they (the police officers) showed up in less than two minutes. While I was doing that, I subtly heard in my spirit that God also has a speedy response time if only I call unto Him.

In recent times, I have really not been calling on God like I should, for everything in my life. Maybe it's pride that makes me think I can handle it all, maybe it's the not wanting to call on God for the seemingly little things (forgetting that I should call on God for everything). Anyway, at that instant, I was reminded that God's response time is fast if only I would call on Him the way I called 911 in my frustration.

Isaiah 65 vs 24 says that before we call on Him, He answers. What speed can beat that? Psalm 91 vs 15 also says that when we call on Him, He will answer and He will be with us in trouble. He will rescue and honor us. I got reminded that God answers when we call, I got reminded to always call on God, be it in frustrations, happiness and whatnot and that is why I am also posting this with the hope that someone also gets reminded that God hears and answers if only you would just call on HIM.

It's the beginning of the second half of 2022, ensure you call on God this second half. I understand that there are waiting periods but I really want to encourage you not to get tired or weary. Keep calling unto Him steadfastly. Never lose focus or sight of Him.

I pray that God helps us in this second half, I pray that pride and other things won't hinder us from calling unto Him, I pray that we would always call on Him. Welcome to the second half of 2022. Happy New Month!
