My First Visit to the Dentist
As old as I am, I visited the Dentist for the first time in my life this year. (Don't air me ooo)
Firstly, I have always been skeptical about going to see a Dentist. This is because I had a friend who went and came back with torn lips due to the Dentist's mistake.
So, I tried to reach out to the Dentists that I knew personally and trust that they won't tear up my mouth or lips. Unfortunately, none resides in Lagos.
Then, my gum started bleeding every time I brushed my tooth. So, I knew I had to visit one. Also, I had HMO Insurance Plans that covered seeing a Dentist. So, I decided to go. Plus, I won't be paying na (What could probably go wrong)
On seeing the Dentist, it was discovered that I had plaque and gum inflammation. Lemme explain....
Plaque can be referred to those deposits that stay on your teeth from all that you consume and provides opportunity for bacteria to proliferate.
I hope you are following my explanation?
After all the grammar and explanation, the Dentist got to work. He used a dental mirror to spot where the plague is or are, then he used a dental scaler to remove all the plaque build-up between my teeth. He also put one liquid (I forgot to ask what it was called) using a needle and syringe to treat my gum.
At the end of the day, the plaque was removed, the gum was treated, and I felt good. I found some corners of my teeth that I didn't know existed. My teeth felt refreshed and anew.
The Dentist also advise me to always floss, and visit a dentist regularly (at lease every six moth)
That's the end of my story.
I decided to share this short story because a lot of people are like me. They haven't visited the dentist before in their lives and they are suffering from plaque, gum infection, gingivitis, among others. When talking about the Dentist here, I am not referring to medical dentist, but God.
God is the greatest healer. He can heal you from all forms of infirmities and that is why the latter part of Exodus 15:26 says "...for I, the Lord, am your healer"
Do you feel sick physically or spiritually? Run to Him for He can heal you.
The same way I had plaque is the same way some of our lives are ridden by plaques, infections, diseases. God is the true healer. He is able to heal you from all infirmities and afflictions. All you need do is talk to Him. Don't be skeptical about visiting Him. Visit God.
Matthew 11: 28 says 'Come unto me all ye who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest' All we need do is go to Him and we would enjoy rest.
My fee to the Dentist had been covered because of my HMO. so I visited for free. Visiting God is also free as Jesus as paid it all. All you need to is to show up. So visit!
The Dentist knew what to remove and where to remove. God also knows the exact place that pinches and hurts. All He need you to do is show up.
Another take home is that the Dentist told me to keep visiting. That's the way you should be with God. Don't do one day on, one year off. God expects us to keep visiting too.
I pray that God helps us
