On one Saturday last year, I went for choir rehearsals.
On getting to church, we were so few that we had to wait for others to come. While waiting, I decided to go to the children's department, have a look and also gist with others. (cause I like gist☺)

Few minutes
later, we were called back into the church to start rehearsals. Then I
discovered that the middle finger of my right hand was bleeding. I immediately wiped the blood and joined others for the rehearsals.
However, I later discovered there was a tiny piece of broken glass in that finger. I must have
placed my hands on a broken glass in the children's department (unknowingly).
I begged a friend of mine to help me get a new
blade so I can try removing the tiny piece disturbing my finger.
All through the rehearsals, I kept trying to remove the tiny piece of glass but I could not. So I decided to let it be.
"It was just a tiny piece and it had no impact"
I thought to myself.

"It was just a tiny piece and it had no impact"
I thought to myself.
"Maybe
flesh would cover it up and I won't feel any pain" I kept thinking.
Little did I know that I was wrong.
I went about
my everyday business being restricted. In all that I did (eating, drinking,
washing, writing, lifting objects, etc), I left out the middle finger and
before I knew it, the point where the tiny piece of glass was, became swollen.
I referred to the broken piece of glass as tiny because it was really very tiny.
I thought because it was tiny, it could be overlooked but I was wrong.
I thought because it was tiny, it had no impact or consequence but I was wrong again.

I became really fed up of the tiny piece of glass one day and I decided to get it over with (enough is enough). So I
took the new blade, sat down and began opening up my flesh till it reached the
point where the tiny piece of glass was. And really when I saw it, it really
was tiny. Like "veeery" tiny. I couldn't believe that something that tiny could
cause lot of pains.
This is the
exact way some of us reason. We believe tiny sins have no consequences or
impact. We feel that it’s so little that it cannot cause pain or harm. The
truth is that the smallest sin is big enough and sin normally starts with
little things. No sin is so little or tiny.
We love to
believe that 'tiny' sin is unimportant and because everyone is doing it, we can
do it too and it’s really not a big deal but that's not right.
Imagine
seeing David while he was looking at Bathsheba, he could have been like 'shebi
I am just looking' that's like a tiny sin but that 'just looking' led to adultery and even
murder.
"You
say you haven't committed murder but you hate others. You say you haven't
committed adultery but you continue to lust after women. You say you don't have
an idol but you make worldly things more important than God. Yes, you keep the
Sabbath but all through the service your mind is occupied with other issues and businesses even while in service. You are not a liar but you love to gossip."
Check it!
Check the tiny sins.
Don't stop looking and examining your life for them.

It was not
easy getting the tiny piece of glass out of my flesh. It was painful trying to
get it out but I still did.
It won't be
all that easy to do away with those tiny sins but be intentional about it.
Purpose in your heart the same way Daniel (Dan. 1:8 ...Daniel purposed in his
heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat...)
did and trust totally in God to help you.
From today onward, let us not ignore the tiny sins or accept them as normal part of lives.
Let us look for them and overcome them.
Sin would always be sin and destructive irrespective of how big or small they are.
Tiny seeds end up growing into a huge harvest same with tiny sins.
So be alert to little sins, identify them, deal with them and stop them from getting big.

Confess
them!
Forsake them!!
...and you would obtain mercy!!!

I pray God
helps us to stop every little seeds of sin in our life, from growing into
gigantic tree of sin.
