My Bakery Job

Image
Bakery activities    I work at a Bakery on a per-time basis, and it has been fun, stressful, and sometimes intriguing. My job description basically entails scooping cookies, assisting in making pizza, pita, and naan dough, spraying trays, icing cookies, slicing loaf, staging, and labelling among others. And I can now tell you for a fact that Americans consume a lot of sugar๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜† On one particular day, I was working with a colleague and a manager/ supervisor walked up to my colleague and told her to remove her AirPods from her ears because it is against the work rules. A few minutes after, my colleague rested her chest on the table (work area) and this same manager told her never to lay on the work table and can go rest outside if she wanted to rest. We had to clean and sanitize the table afterward. My colleague was not happy about this experience and she kept lamenting and complaining about how mean this manager is. The next day again, my colleague had her AirPods plugged in her

Living on a Hill

I live on a hill. Climbing up the hill to get to my house feels like hiking and it's super stressful. For people that have a car, it's usually nothing to them. However, for people like me, it's a hassle and one of the annoying things is that the public transport stops at the foot of the hill and I would still have to climb up the hill. On one fateful day, I was climbing the hill (to my apartment) with my friend Simisola Obanla. As soon as we started climbing, she started praying and telling God to send a car, or make one of the persons driving by, give us a drive. Few minutes into the prayer, nothing happened. After the prayer, cars kept passing by and none stopped. There was this particular car (driver) that was looking at us like he wanted to help but still, he did not stop. It was like God did not answer the prayer. After a while, the driver that looked like he wanted to help us, drove back to pick us. He explained that he wanted to pick us but there was no space in his

My Baby's Grip

Image
I miss my baby so much that I can't help but write about her and that is why I am writing about her grips. As you all may have known, I have a cute baby sister (feel free to view her picture below. LOL) Oreoluwa Babatayo Whenever she's climbing the stairs, she would always grip the railings very firmly. She grips it and confirms that she's gripping it well before she takes her next step (I wish I made a video). She is already walking o, but then she understands she still needs a support system and the railings come to the rescue. In fact, when she was still a baby, I mean few months old, she always knew when she's been carried through the stairs. I don't knw how she knows but immediately you carry her through the stairs, she would hold you firmly. I still wonder how she knows but then, you'd always feel her tight grip when passing through the stairs with her. If I am walking down or up the stairs with Oreoluwa, she would always hold me tightly and expect that I

Happy Children's Day!

Image
Happy Children's Day All. May God keep us to witness more. This children's day made me remember one observation I noticed a while back. So few years ago, children's day was on a Sunday and as such,  the children were allowed to anchor the service. They anchored the entire service from beginning to the end. The role of the choir, ushers, elders, deacons and deaconess, and even pastor was handled by the children and it was fantastic. Among the children was the pastor's son. I had not met him before but I recognized him immediately. I didn't recognize him be cause he did anything 'spectacular' per se, although, he was a part of the choir. However, I recognized him because he is a spitting image of his father (the pastor). His complexion, the way he looks, the shape of his head, the shape of his body, everything was just like his dads. Immediately, I saw him, I knew he was the pastor's son. I could also identity some other children that looked like their par

He is Dead

Image
Hello guys, I feel like it's been a while that I dropped something here and I really apologize for that. So, I lost my biological father to the cold hands of death last month, and for me, it has really been a rollercoaster of emotions. Growing up, I had always pictured my dad dying, and my reaction to his death (prolly because he was advanced in age), but I really didn't see this kind of reaction and muddled emotions. First, he was ill for about 4 months before passing on. And for that four months, I had prayed for his recovery, my siblings did, friends did, a lot of people did but he still died. Even when I (we) prayed and felt or sensed that he wasn't going to make it, we still pressed on in prayers. But still, he died. Rest In Peace, Chief James Ajenipa Babatayo

My First Visit to the Dentist

As old as I am, I visited the Dentist for the first time in my life this year. (Don't air me ooo) Firstly, I have always been skeptical about going to see a Dentist. This is because I had a friend who went and came back with torn lips due to the Dentist's mistake. So, I tried to reach out to the Dentists that I knew personally and trust that they won't tear up my mouth or lips. Unfortunately, none resides in Lagos. Then, my gum started bleeding every time I brushed my tooth. So, I knew I had to visit one. Also, I had HMO Insurance Plans that covered seeing a Dentist. So, I decided to go. Plus, I won't be paying na (What could probably go wrong) On seeing the Dentist, it was discovered that I had plaque and gum inflammation. Lemme explain.... Plaque can be referred to those deposits that stay on your teeth from all that you consume and provides opportunity for bacteria to proliferate. I hope you are following my explanation? After all the grammar and explanation, the De

I want!

A lot of times we make comments like "I want", "God when", "My ovaries", among others. But the reality is we really do not want. We really are not ready. I have a really cute baby sister and whenever I post her picture on my WhatsApp status, I am flooded with comments like "My ovaries", "I want", etc. but the truth is you do not really mean it. Lemme paint a scenario.
